Samuel J. Stegman, MD, Award for Distinguished Service

The Samuel J. Stegman, MD, Award for Distinguished Service has been established to honor individuals who have made major contributions in furthering the goals of ASDS. These contributions may be identified in the following areas:

• Education – publications, lectures and courses.
• Organizational service – special accomplishments in a leadership role.
• Research – in areas of interest to dermatologic surgeons either in basic research or the clinical sciences.

• Candidates must be members in good standing of ASDS.
• Candidates may only be nominated by members in good standing of ASDS and may not nominate themselves.
• While multiple nominees for one individual will be accepted, a nomination may only be seconded once.
• ASDS members may not be nominated for an award while serving as a member of the Award Work Group.
• Nominees may not be nominated by their spouse or domestic partner.

To nominate an individual, submit the nominee’s name, along with a detailed summary of the nominee’s contributions to the goals of ASDS in education, organizational service or research. The application must be seconded in writing by another ASDS member. Be sure to print and sign the application. Nominations must be submitted no later than June 5, 2026.
