Surgical Directors Forum

The ASDS Surgical Directors Forum is a unique group that connects Surgical Directors across dermatology residency programs, and micrographic surgery, cutaneous oncology and cosmetic dermatologic surgery fellowship programs. The ongoing mission of the Forum is to support surgical directors in their practice, research and teaching responsibilities.

Since the first Forum meeting in 2014, surgical directors from over 110 residency and fellowship programs have come together with discussions focused on regulatory issues affecting training programs across the country, level of cosmetic training in residency programs, collaborative research studies and training resources available to dermatology trainees.

Surgical Directors Forum Focus:

“I believe that those who direct the surgical education for residents have not really had an adequate forum to interact and advocate,” said Naomi Lawrence, MD, Chair of the Surgical Directors Forum. “There are also many mutual issues with the fellowship directors both cosmetic and micrographic surgery and cutaneous oncology. I am very excited to see that this Forum is gaining traction and developing its cohesive identity.”
