“Dr. Narurkar’s revolutionary contributions to laser innovation, patient care, research and education have inspired me to shape my career interests to better serve the scientific and educational communities. The ASDS Annual Meeting was a unique opportunity for aspiring dermatologic surgeons to honor Dr. Narukar by connecting with and learning from mentors and pioneers of the field. I was intrigued by the meeting’s comprehensive educational program that focused on the science and innovation in cosmetic and surgical dermatology, and cutaneous oncology. I found the plenary sessions especially fascinating with leading pioneers’ unique perspectives on emerging therapies. The interactive patient simulations demonstrating advanced face and body injection technique allowed me to take home actionable knowledge and improve patient outcomes.” Jusleen Ahluwalia, MD

Quotes from 2019 Recipients

“I was humbled to receive an award honoring the late Dr. Narurkar. The experience it facilitated at the 2019 ASDS Annual Meeting furthered my professional and personal development in many ways. As a chief resident who will be starting an ASDS cosmetic fellowship in 2020, the meeting was of heightened relevance and applicability for me. At my current level of training, many of the innovative new aesthetic and surgical techniques that were discussed at the meeting are within my grasp, and I look forward to implementing them with patients during the remainder of my residency, and beyond.” —Kimberly Huerth, MD

“Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Narurkar’s scholarship program, I was able to attend the 2019 ASDS Annual Meeting in Chicago for the very first time, free of financial worries. I found the meeting extremely informative, covering very diverse topics with many thoughtful workshops specifically designed to prepare dermatology residents for the real world experience, while remaining compact enough to make it very navigable. In particular, the special suturing technique and surgical emergency sessions were such an eye opener for me.”  —Lingyun Du, MD
